Monrovia – Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee has reaffirmed the CDC government’s commitment to promote religious tolerance.
Mayor Koijee said, “under the CDC led government, every citizen will be given the free space to proudly affiliate with any religion void of intimidation” noting that the President is committed to upholding the tenets of freedom of association which is enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic.
He said President George Weah believes that every citizen, regardless of his or her religious affiliation, should be equally protected. According to him, such will help promote the current peaceful coexistence among citizens of Liberia.
Mayor Koijee said, President Weah sees Liberians as one family and that should be exemplified through the expression of love for one another.
He added that “Liberia is the only country we have and as such Liberians should work together to meaningfully contribute to Liberia’s economic and infrastructure development”.
Speaking at the program marking the safe return of Liberians (pilgrims) from the Holy City of Mecca, Saudi Arabia held at the Monrovia City Hall, Mayor Koijee encouraged Liberians to see President George Weah as a classical example of aggressive change and symbol of religious tolerance.
He noted that with the current agenda of the Weah-led administration, Liberians will experience changes that will not only impact Liberia as a country but the lives of the citizens who he said have lived in total destitution for decades.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee has also called on the young people of Liberia to take advantage of the opportunity given them by the President to serve in positions of trust in government.
He said President Weah has erased the old day’s perception that young people were only good to be used as tools for violence and it is now left with the young people to support the President’s decision by positively executing their responsibilities as ambassadors of the youthful generation.
President George Weah on behalf of the government of Liberia recently facilitated the transporting of over two hundred Liberian Muslims to participate in the Hajj event in Mecca city, Saudi Arabia.
The over Two Hundred Muslims who just returned from Mecca lauded President George Weah for transporting them to fufill one of the five pillars of Islam (Pilgrimage). They noted that while in Mecca, they prayed for the country and Liberians including President George Weah which was basically focused on peace, harmony, Unity and the Almighty Allah should continue to strengthen the President with more wisdom to transform Liberia.
Furthermore, the Grand Mufti of Liberia appreciated the President and pledged their unflinching support to the government pro-poor agenda for prosperity.
The hajj — Arabic for “pilgrimage” — is a five-day religious pilgrimage to Mecca and nearby holy sites in Saudi Arabia that all Muslims who are physically and financially able must perform at least once in their lives. It is one of the five pillars, or duties, of Islam, along with the profession of faith in the one God and Mohammed as his prophet, prayer, charitable giving, and fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.
