Monrovia — BEA Mountain Mining Corporation has pledged US$50,000 to support Liberia’s national football team, the Lone Star, as the team prepares for its upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer, speaking to FrontPage Africa, reaffirmed BEA Mountain’s commitment to supporting Liberian football and youth development, saying the contribution is intended to strengthen the Lone Star’s preparations and qualification campaign.
The US$50,000 pledge forms part of the company’s broader investment in sports and the development of young Liberian talents, including its BEA Mountain Football Academy, which is focused on identifying and nurturing promising footballers.
BEA Mountain’s support has also received recognition from President Joseph Boakai, who has highlighted the mining company’s growing contribution to sports and youth development in Liberia, including its football academy.
The company’s investment is already having a direct connection to the national team, with Ralph Weah and Ashley Williams, both players of BEA Mountain FC, currently included in the Lone Star squad.
BEA Mountain said its continued investment in football reflects its commitment to creating opportunities for young Liberians while contributing to the development of a stronger and more competitive national team.
The company expressed hope that its support will help the Lone Star mount a successful campaign in the upcoming AFCON qualifiers and compete at the highest level of African football.
