PARIS, France – A Maryland County Senator, who chairs the Liberian Senate Committee on Executive and serves as ranking member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, has held separate engagements with officials at the Liberian Embassy in Paris and leaders of the Liberian community in France.

According to a release, the Senator visited the Embassy of Liberia in Paris on Thursday, where he was received by Liberia’s Ambassador to France, Dr. Teeko Tozay Yorlay, Sr., and members of the diplomatic staff.
During the meeting, the Senator commended Ambassador Yorlay and the Embassy staff for their service to Liberia, particularly the sacrifices and challenges associated with representing the country abroad.
He praised the mission’s dedication, resilience and commitment to duty, noting that Liberia’s diplomatic representatives play an important role in advancing the country’s foreign-policy interests, providing services to Liberians abroad and strengthening relations with France and other countries of accreditation.
The Senator encouraged the Embassy staff to remain committed to their national responsibilities and continue upholding Liberia’s interests in their diplomatic engagements.
Senator Meets Liberian Community Leaders
Following his engagement at the Embassy, the Senator met with the leadership of the Federation of Liberian Associations in France as part of his outreach to Liberians living in France and across Europe.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Federation’s leadership to present its vision, priorities and ongoing efforts to promote unity, cooperation and community development among Liberians in France.
The group also briefed the Senator on preparations for the upcoming Liberian Independence Day celebrations in Europe under the European Federation of Liberian Associations (EFLA).
The Federation described the annual gathering as an important platform for promoting Liberian culture, national identity, diaspora solidarity and stronger connections between Liberians abroad and their homeland.
Discussions also focused on the need for greater and sustained engagement between the Government of Liberia and diaspora organizations across Europe.
The Federation highlighted the potential contribution of the Liberian diaspora to national development through investment, knowledge and skills transfer, advocacy, tourism promotion and other forms of constructive engagement.
Call for Stronger Government-Diaspora Engagement
The Senator welcomed the concerns and recommendations presented by the Federation and acknowledged the significant contributions Liberians abroad continue to make to the country’s development.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining effective channels of communication between the Government of Liberia and organized diaspora communities, particularly those in Europe.
The Senator encouraged the Federation to continue working collaboratively to promote the interests and welfare of Liberians in France while contributing to Liberia’s broader national development agenda.
The engagements in Paris concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening Liberia’s diplomatic service, deepening Government-diaspora relations and ensuring that the concerns, aspirations and contributions of Liberians living in Europe remain an important part of national development discussions.
