Monrovia – A group under the banner “One Bong County Campaign” has termed the intent of Senator Henry Yallah to divide Bong County as ‘selfish and un-reconciliatory.’
“We call on all citizens of Bong County to say no to the division of Bong County, because we are better and stronger together,” national chairman ‘One Bong Campaign’ David S. Kansuah said.
The campaign chairman also stated that the county’s main problem is the lack of leadership.
Kansuah stressed that Senator Yallah has lost the ability to provide quality leadership for the county.
Sen. Yallah recently announced his plan to introduce a bill to divide Bong County thus creating a new county called ‘Bong Range.’
The Senator’s pronouncement has been met with a stiff resistance from citizens of the county at home and aboard.
Supporting his call for division of the county, Yallah cited under development of Lower Bong as a reason behind his call for county division.
But Kansuah believes that Sen. Yallah’s intent is purely political.
“We believe that the intent of Senator Yallah and his followers to divide our county is selfish, diabolical and it has the proclivity of perpetually dividing our people instead of reconciling them,” Kansuah said.
Kansuah further stated that the Senator’s inability to fulfil his campaign promises made in 2011 adding that he is using divisive politics to retain his seat.
“The arguments being proffered by self-seeking and divisive politicians are not only grossly deflated but dead upon arrival,” Kansuah said.
Kansuah continued: “If the size and number debates should be taken seriously, as it is being pushed by these selfish interests seeking politicians, then it would also suggest that hugely populated counties like Montserrado, Nimba and Grand Bassa can equally have genuine justifications for being divided.”
Kansuah said the Senator’s action can only be categorized as a weak foundation on which failed politicians would go all out to gain sympathy.
He stressed that the issues have never been about size or number but a responsible leadership that is creative and innovative.
“As Senator and Representatives of the people of Bong, what are some of the problems solving solutions like energy challenges,” Kansuah asked.
Kansuah continued: “Also what has his leadership as Chairman of the Caucus done for the speedy completion of the Bong County Technical College.”
Kansuah averred that the Senator’s statement further exposed his inabilities to think outside the box to project solutions for the forward march of Bong.
