MONROVIA – The President of the First-Year (1L) Class at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, Robert J. Jasper, has delivered a compelling statement highlighting unity, academic excellence and institutional pride during a welcome dinner hosted for new students.
Speaking on behalf of the 1L class, Jasper described the occasion as “a great night,” emphasizing the rare opportunity for first-year students to engage closely with senior students, faculty members, and the Dean.
According to him, the gathering provided a unique platform for interaction that many students may not experience again during their academic journey.
“We have the privilege of sitting together with our seniors… and most importantly, with the Dean and professors,” he noted.
He expressed sincere gratitude to the Dean of the law school for admitting the new class, describing the decision as both a privilege and a responsibility for the students.
Jasper also acknowledged the role of senior students, noting that their mentorship and example would be critical in guiding the 1L class through the rigors of legal education.
Outlining the vision of the 1L class, Mr. Jasper stressed a commitment to academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, innovation and institutional impact.
He stated that the class aims to study diligently, engage in respectful intellectual debate and support one another throughout their academic journey.
Jasper reaffirmed the class’s support for the Dean’s vision to strengthen and rebrand the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law. “If the school rises, we rise with it; if its reputation grows, our responsibility grows as well,” he declared.
He added that the class is ready to contribute its time, energy, ideas, and resources toward advancing the institution.
Describing the event as part of a longstanding tradition, Mr. Jasper assured attendees that the current 1L class would uphold and even enhance the practice in the future.
Jasper reflected on the significance of the moment, describing it as the beginning of long nights of study, deep intellectual engagement, lifelong along with friendships. “We came here as individuals with hopes; we stand here now as a class with purpose. And we will leave here as lawyers with integrity.”
