MONROVIA – The Liberia Football Association (LFA), with financial backing from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has taken a significant step toward strengthening grassroots football by awarding a grant of US$16,906 equivalent to over three million Liberian dollars to the Inter-School Sports Association (ISSA).

The funding is intended to support the organization and hosting of the National Under-15 School Football Competition across all 15 counties of Liberia.
According to the LFA, the grant was approved by its Executive Committee and sourced through the CAF Impact Program, a flagship initiative aimed at fostering sustainable football development and creating opportunities for young talent across the continent.
The funds are specifically earmarked to cover logistics, equipment procurement, and administrative costs associated with organizing school football competitions nationwide.
The move is expected to ensure wider participation and improved standards at the grassroots level.
The initiative aligns with CAF’s broader vision of creating a future in football for every boy and girl in Africa, using school sports as a foundation for talent identification, social inclusion, and youth empowerment.
Beyond the U-15 tournament, the program will introduce additional support pillars designed to enhance the social impact of football.
It also aims to build the administrative and technical capacity of participating schools through targeted training and development programs.
The symbolic cheque presentation further reinforces the LFA’s commitment to grassroots development.
It follows a recent milestone in which the Association donated 600 footballs to ISSA to support school and community-based football activities across the country.
With this latest intervention, the LFA continues to position school football as a critical pathway for nurturing future national team players while promoting education, discipline, and community engagement through sport.
