MONROVIA – Players of Liberia Football Association LFA First Division outfit Gardnersville FC have launched an indefinite boycott of all team activities, citing months of unpaid wages and “inhumane” treatment, FrontPage Africa has reliably learned.

The strike, which began with a collective absence from Monday’s training session, follows months of mounting frustration. Players claim they have not received their monthly salaries since the start of the 2025–2026 league season in October.
$100 for Five Months
Speaking to FrontPage Africa on condition of anonymity for fear of victimization, a senior player revealed that the only financial compensation the squad has received since October was a one-time payment of $100 USD.
This amount was reportedly handed over personally by the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Montserrado County Senator Saah H. Joseph, on November 29, 2025.
“Since October 2025, up to this day, we haven’t seen a cent in salaries,” the player lamented.
“How do they expect us to survive, support our families, and still perform on the pitch?”
Stranded and Neglected
The grievances extend beyond the payroll. Players alleged they are frequently left stranded at the practice ground after training sessions.
“Sometimes, we are forced to remain at the pitch well into the afternoon because there is no transportation provided. We end up having to find our own way home after giving our all-in training,” the source added.
This lack of basic logistics, transportation, and per diems has reportedly become a routine struggle for the squad.
The situation reached a breaking point following the club’s 3–1 defeat to Paynesville FC last Friday. In an emergency post-match meeting, the squad unanimously resolved to boycott all training sessions and future league fixtures until their outstanding arrears are settled in full.
The Political Parallel
The crisis comes at a sensitive time for Senator Saah Joseph, who has recently announced his intention to contest for a seat on the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Executive Committee (EC).
The players expressed deep disappointment, noting a perceived double standard in the Senator’s spending. While the team struggles for basic transport, the Senator has reportedly been hosting lavish meetings for fellow club presidents, providing them with transportation and entertainment as part of his campaign for the EC seat.
“It is heartbreaking to see our President spending money on other club presidents while his own players have turned into beggars,” one player said.

In the interest of fairness and balance, FrontPage Africa reached out to Senator Saah Joseph via WhatsApp for a response to these allegations.
Despite the gravity of the situation and its potential impact on the LFA First Division schedule, the Senator has yet to reply to inquiries.
As it stands, Gardnersville FC’s participation in the upcoming league fixtures remains in doubt. The players remain steadfast, insisting that their boots will stay off until their bank accounts are credited.
