The items, valued at about US$1,000, included a modern delivery bed, a mini freezer, medical scale, blood pressure cords, and trash cans—equipment aimed at strengthening the clinic’s capacity to serve patients in the community.
Speaking during the presentation, Benjamin Garkpah, of Bettomax’s media department, said the donation was part of the company’s commitment to identifying health facilities across Liberia, not just major hospitals but also smaller community clinics.
“Coming here to a smaller clinic in the community is our dream because as part of our corporate social responsibility we want to reach everywhere in Liberia,” Garkpah said. “We are so excited to bring these items here, especially the modern delivery bed. Our only hope is that the donations are used for the intended purpose.”
Garkpah explained that Bettomax, in partnership with Watanga FC and female club Shaita Angels, has over the past months made donations to major hospitals and orphanages, including JFK Medical Hospital, ELWA, Redemption, and SD Cooper, among others.
Receiving the items, George S. Gbormoi Sr., proprietor of Tender Medical Clinic, hailed the gesture as timely and impactful.
“These items came at the time we are in need of them,” Gbormoi said. “We didn’t have a scale because the one we had spoiled, and to receive this modern delivery bed means a lot to us and our patients. We are grateful to Bettomax and Watanga for looking our way.”
Established five years ago, the clinic serves residents of Paynesville and surrounding communities. Gbormoi said it was encouraging to see a football team and a betting company extend support to smaller facilities.
Also speaking, Watanga assistant coach Patianal Mulbah lauded Bettomax for the partnership, stressing that the collaboration continues to make an impact beyond football.
The donation, part of Bettomax’s monthly outreach, highlights how sports clubs and corporate partners are using their platforms to support communities in Liberia.
