On Thursday, the Ganta-based club clinched the National Third Division Playoff Championship with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Montserrado County’s third division runner-up, Down Town FC.

Peterson Suah scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot in the 70th minute, sealing Gompa FC’s championship win. Despite mounting pressure from Down Town FC, Gompa’s defense stood firm, denying their opponents an equalizer.

The road to victory saw participation from 32 teams representing 14 counties. In the final match, both clubs displayed exceptional football, entertaining the crowd with a high level of skill and intensity. Down Town FC created early chances but were unable to break through Gompa FC’s defense. As the game intensified, Gompa capitalized on their pressure, with Suah’s penalty proving to be the difference-maker.

Down Town FC continued to press for an equalizer but fell short as their strikers struggled to find the back of the net, leaving Gompa FC victorious.

Meanwhile, in the third-place match, District 17 Academy secured the final promotion spot to the second division, defeating Amazing FC 2-0.

With these results, Gompa FC, Down Town FC, and District 17 Academy will all compete in the upcoming Second Division season.
