Wologizi FC recently climbed to the 7th position in the league table after their game against Nimba United was abandoned with the score tied at 1-1. The game took an unexpected turn when the referee ordered a penalty kick to be retaken due to encroachment by the home side. Nimba United disputed the decision and walked off the pitch in Voinjama.
Following the incident, the Competition Department ruled in favor of Wologizi FC, awarding them a 2-0 victory, and announced that Nimba United would be fined in accordance with the league’s rules and regulations.
Coach Sonie has emphasized the importance of maintaining their current form if they aspire to secure a promotion slot at the end of the season. Wologizi FC’s next challenge awaits them against Philadelphia Lone Star at the George Weah Technical Center in Careysburg, Montserrado County.
“I can assure our fans that everything is on track, and our players are well-prepared for the upcoming match against Philadelphia Lone Star. Let me be clear: we are fully committed to every game,” Coach Sonie assured our reporter.
He urged his players not to become complacent after their two recent wins and emphasized the significance of retaining their excellent ball possession and finishing skills. Coach Sonie believes that if his team continues to exhibit such prowess, they have a strong chance of either winning the league or securing a runner-up position, which would qualify them for promotion to the first division league.
Coach Sonie stated, “I’m calling on my players to maintain their high-level ball possession and finishing skills, as these qualities hold immense importance for Wologizi FC and the people of Lofa County. Despite our players’ youth and limited experience, we are currently seventh in the table with seven points, and we aim to secure more victories as the league progresses.”
