Monrovia–Barnesville Estate Force basketball team has advanced to the final of Humanitarian Youth for Developmental Initiative tournament.

The boys from Barnersville Estate secured their place in the grand-finale on Sunday August 6,2023 after a tough three points victory over Area G Youngies.
Following his side victory the captain of Barnersville Estate Force Otives Gray described his team’ qualification to the grand-final as encouraging and assured members of the communities of winning the championship.
Otives Gray said his assurance comes after they defeated Area G Youngies 59 points to 56 in the tournament first semi-final battle but was quick to called on his teammates to intensify their training as they continue their preparation for the tournament final.
“First I’m lease to say thank you to our fans that have continue to stand by us from the start of the tournament up to our qualification to the final today and we hope they will keep on their support until we are crown champions of the tournament.” Gray said.
For his part Area G.Youngies Captain Robert B. Kollie described his side defeat as a setback to their plan of winning the tournament championship and attributed it to them as players failure to put into better use majority of the chances they had in the match but paid tribute to their fans for their support and hope they will do better the next edition of the tournament.
“I blamed us as players for our failure to put into better used the chances we had in the four quarters of the game for our defeat but I want to say here thank you to our fans that kept on their support for us from the start of the tournament until today we are out of the tournament.”
The tournament last semifinal is expected to take played between Mangos and Balling Squq on next Sunday August 13, 2023.
Elli Bass the president of HYDI highlighted that the aim of his organization basketball tournament is to help bring together youth of the Bardnersville, Johnsonsville and Gardnerville together and help to focus their minds in the right direction in the area of youth development.
He extended thanks and appreciation to all of the 12 teams that started the tournament for their intelligent manner in which their athletes continue to perform against their opponents on and off the court.
