The United States of America — The Unity Party-USA & Canada has ended its National Convention by the elections of officials to fill vacant positions alongside the adoption of its draft constitution modeled after that of the mother party. The convention, attended by partisans across the length and breadth of the USA and Canada and graced with the presence of the party leadership in Liberia was characterized by the USA and Canada National Chairman Kerper Dwanyen as a major stepping stone in the party’s efforts to strengthen its diaspora participation and contribution to the body politic and development of Liberia.
The positions, National Secretary-General, Treasurer and Chaplain General were declared vacant and opened for elections.
In a powerful display of unity and cohesion, James Saywala Kennedy was elected Secretary-General, Harry Mason Treasurer, and Rev. Theophilus Bracewell Chaplain General, all sailing on white ballots.
In his message delivered via zoom technology opening the convention, Unity Party Standard Bearer His Excellency Amb. Joseph Nyuma Boakai expressed his appreciation and support for the diaspora members of the Unity Party.
The UP Standard Bearer reminded partisans of the challenges facing Liberia and reiterated the need for unity amongst partisans in the march towards national development. He called his fellow partisans to remain committed to the implementation of the mandates of the convention and consider them binding.
National Chairman of Unity Party Amin Modad and National Secretary General Mo Ali in separate remarks, encouraged members of the party to see togetherness as a key factor in the upliftment of the party and a roadmap to Liberia’s transformation.
They then encouraged those elected to work within the interest of the party and with Liberia as the center of the Unity Party’s blueprint.
