The Editor,
Former Maritime Commissioner Binyah Kesselly was reportedly the highest paid in government with an annual salary of more than US$400,000.00.
Can someone please prove me wrong? And then there was the other NOCAL CEO (Robert Sirleaf) who was raking in US $360,000.00 a year plus benefits and at the same time each NOCAL Board member was paid US$9,000.00 a month or $108,000.00 a year.
Now you know why mom won’t allow for her beloved son Robert and NOCAL to be audited.
And you want to know why Ellen is supporting Charles Brumskine for president so it becomes business as usual. Need to know the salaries of Senators and Representatives?
Liberian Lawmakers earn far more than their counterparts in the US Congress: $174,000.00 a year for a US Congressman and $185,000.00 for a Liberian lawmaker.
The “Office Budget” for both the Senate Pro Tempore and House Speaker respectively in the last couple of years was more than $1.5 million yearly.
In addition, we pay the rent and pay for the electric generators for both the Speaker and Senate Pro Tempore, and I won’t be surprised for others in the government.
Only in Liberia….what a sweet country!
Need more? Try the budget for the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs two years ago: a whopping $33 million including $3 million for presidential overseas travels and $2 million for presidential “office use”.
Then try the salaries for other government agencies, like the Commissioner of the Liberia Revenue Authority.
She earns over US $100,000.00 a year.
Since President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf campaigned on running a government of transparency and accountability, we the Liberian people challenge her, under the Table Mountain Freedom.
Of Information law, to make public the salaries of all government officials. I bet my neck on the “chopping block”.
Then we want to know the salaries and perks of heads of public entities and board members: Liberia Petroleum Refinery Corporation, Liberia Telecommunications Authority, Liberia Aviation Authority, Good Governance Commission, National Investment Commission, the National Security Agency, National Bank of Liberia, National Port Authority, The Chief Justice and Associate Justices of the Supreme Court of Liberia, Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation, Liberia Electricity Corporation and salaries of Ministers, Assistant Ministers and teachers, nurses, police and Armed Forces of Liberia soldiers .
My neck is still on the chopping block but first we the above requested information.
And now it is grab-and-go as suggested by Good Governance boss Dr. Amos Sawyer told the Liberian Observer last week with the just signed $600 million national budget for 2016-2017, the last full fiscal budget under President Ellen Johnson Ellen Johnson Sirleaf before she leaves office in January 2018.
Her final will take us under the next President.
With all this information, why won’t Senators George Manneh Weah, Prince Johnson and Vice President Joseph N Boakai work out a merger agreement to win the 2017 presidential elections?
Prince Johnson? Some may ask? And I answer: why not Prince Johnson?
He could not be any a devil compared to other confessed warmongers in the government?
