The political leader of the Movement for Progressive Change (MPC), Simeon Freeman, says that Grand Bassa County deserves better development, just like any other county in Liberia.

Freeman’s political interest and contributions to Grand Bassa County include helping to recondition bad roads that affect the movement of people in those communities. He believes that good community roads will allow the economy to flourish and bring commercial activities to life, as vehicles and local bike riders will be able to do business and empower themselves in this struggling economy.
Through his MPC political party, Freeman has embarked on the reconditioning of major feeder roads in Buchanan City. The road project is part of his developmental contribution to the county and aims to improve the smooth movement of residents in that part of the county.
The Freeman team moved into Buchanan City with a yellow machine on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, and immediately started grinding major feeder roads in Grand Bassa County. Over six feeder roads in Buchanan have been worked on by the team. These roads were in serious, deplorable condition, making it difficult to ply by vehicles and commercial bikes. Some of the communities that have benefited from the project include the two roads in Gonigar Town, the Pearchuzon Community two roads, and another two roads of Taaba community, respectively.
Simeon Freeman also announced that the same project will be done in other counties, including Margibi, Bong, and Nimba counties, respectively.
The people of the beneficiary communities welcomed Freeman and his team for the work in the county. The Chief of Gonigar Town, one of the beneficiary communities, Mr. Thomas Dixon, said he was overwhelmed to see Simeon Freeman going and investing his personal funding in a county that has many rich politicians who have done nothing for the county. “This road has been bad for years, and I haven’t seen anyone do what Simeon Freeman is doing in our community,” he said.
The Community Chairman of Tar Bar Community, Isaac Gibson, described Freeman’s project as timely for the county, especially as the rainy season is approaching. “This road is one of the major roads here in Buchanan City, and it has been in this deplorable condition for decades. But we are now glad to see it being graded by a son of the county. We are proud of him, and we are also encouraging other sons of the county to follow the good examples of Freeman and his MPC team. One good thing I see written all over Simeon Freeman is the value he has for our people. Only a farsighted person will think in the direction Freeman is focusing his development in the county,” said a former community leader, Chris Parlon.
The Movement for Progressive Change Grand Bassa County Chairman, Daniel T. Bryant, said the MPC is a political party that has the solution for Liberia through the rich platform of the party. Bryant said that his political leader, Simeon Freeman, has planned to reach out to the Bassa people upon his return from his travels.
Freeman is currently out of the county, but his team, headed by the party chairman O’Neil Passawe, is in Bassa, implementing the mandate of the party. Chairman Bryant, who is the host of the team because he resides in the county, has been identifying the major deplorable roads in Buchanan City for grinding the roads.
“Our people are happy because many of these roads being worked by the MPC are roads that are not easily plied by bikes or cars but from now onward everybody can use it, this what happens when you a political leader who puts politics aside and reach out to the people,” he said.
