Monrovia- Ayodeji Bejide, Nigerian national and Managing Director of
Guranty Trust (GT) Bank spent his first night at the custody at the
Liberia National Police (LNP) after he reportedly assaulted his
employee Edward Freeman.

According to the police the bank MD will be charged with Aggravated assault.

Both Bejide and Freeman were at the police headquarter upon which the
MD was detained while Freeman was told to seek medical attention.

white shirt collar shirt with a purple neck tie with a bloody lip.

The incident occurred at the bank’s 13th Street head office in Monrovia.
Freeman was heard asking in the video what he did to have sustain such
injury from a calculator that he was hit on his lip by Bejide.

According to Freeman the action of the bank MD was very brutal to him.
“This is the first time I have been assaulted, the only thing I have
done is to make sure that the MD expectation is met.”

Mr. Bejide was seeing in the video calming Freeman down at what time
he walked from in the MD office.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Labor issued a statement condemning the
alleged action by Bejide.

According to the Ministry they are not only deeply concerned by the
alleged action but have also contacted the Ministry of Justice through
the Liberia National Police.

The Ministry said it approach will be informed by the outcome of the
ongoing criminal investigation by the police.

However, the Ministry emphasizes to all employers and employees that
the Decent Work Act of Liberia in Section 14.3 (d) reserves it’s most
severe sanctions for persons who breach the fundamental rights of
another employee or attack, batter, threaten, or intimidate his or her
co-workers.

The Ministry added that they will not hesitate to exact the utmost
penalties on persons who flagrantly violate the Decent Work Act and
