MONROVIA — The Senior Advisor of the Fula Community in Liberia Sulemaie M. Bah has called on Fulani residing in Liberia to remain law abiding and work towards developing their host country.
Mr. Bah who is also the senior Advisor to the Fula Governor in Liberia also called for peaceful co-existence between the Fulani residing in Liberia and their host communities, in order to achieve the reasons for which they are in Liberia.
Speaking in an interview with this paper over the weekend at his office in Monrovia, Mr. Bah urged Fulani to always exhibit good behaviors in order to continue to portray the good image of the Fula Community in Liberia and other parts of the world.
Mr. Bah expressed the hope and desire that the cordial working relationship between other Liberians and member of the Fula Community.
He that the Fula feels discriminated against “Fula in general face severe scrutiny in the process of acquiring national documents and ownership over land which is not the case with our tribal counterparts.”
He, however, disclosed that Fula businesses are legally closed on Sundays and other holidays in observance of other tribes’ days while they as Fula are not respected, something he said
He also cautioned against any act that will breach the laws of their host country, especially in this critical moment in the country’s history.
According to him, security precautions are being put in place to ensure the safety of Fulani.
“We ply our trade here and the country needs to be peaceful so we can do so. Our interaction with local Liberians show that everybody wants to be peaceful,” he said.
He further noted that the only thing we can do is to abide by the laws of the country”.
Mr. Bah used the occasion to urged Fulani business people to continue paying their taxes in order to increase revenue generation that will help to develop the country
