Monrovia – The Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to one of its members, Bettie Johnson- Mbayo, for her recognition as the Press Union of Liberia’s Health, Women Rights and Judicial Reporter of the year 2018.
Journalist Mbayo won three of the PUL 2018 awards and is the only female to have won several accolades in this year’s awards category.
Others, who won this year’s awards are Power TV Anthony Stephens, Bush Chicken, OK FM, LMDI John Kollie and The Inquirer Newspaper respectively.
The Association, therefore, expresses gratitude to Bettie and urges her to continue to shine in this noble profession and also hopes that she can be an inspiration to other females in the media.
“Capturing three of the PUL’s awards is a clear indication that women in the media can explore and equally compete with their male counterparts regardless of the challenges faced by women journalists,” the Association believes. It thanked her for what it called “braving the storm” and stepping up her game.
They expressed how “super proud” they are of her achievements; adding, “Let those awards serve as a motivation for you to do more. Congratulations again Bettie,” the president of the Association, Siatta Scott Johnson noted.
The awards night is an annual event organized by the Press Union of Liberia to recognize the tireless efforts of media practitioners in the country.
