MONROVIA — Deputy Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious 2023 Golden Image Outstanding Award in the category of empowerment.
The Deputy Speaker, along with several other distinguished individuals, including Liberians and foreigners, will be honored with the Golden Image Awards at a ceremony scheduled for Thursday, July 20, 2023. The event will take place in the Ball Room of the Monrovia City Hall, with the red carpet commencing at 6:30 PM.
This year marks the 13th edition of the Golden Image Awards since its establishment in 2011, and His Excellency George Manneh Weah, the President of the Republic of Liberia, is the convener for the awards.
In a letter addressed to Cllr. Koffa, Representative of District #2, Grand Kru County, dated July 10, 2023, the National Secretariat of the Golden Image Awards, in collaboration with the Liberia Crusaders for Peace and the Government of Liberia, formally announced his selection as the winner of the 2023 Golden Image Award in the national-level category of Empowerment.
“The selection of your entity follows a comprehensive research and vetting process of individuals, organizations, and countries that were submitted by a network of national and international committee members to the National Secretariat of the Golden Image Awards for scrutiny in September 2022,” the community stated.
“Your entity’s profile, which will be read during the official award ceremony, proved captivating and encompassed all the attributes listed in the selection criteria, hence your selection as the recipient of the Golden Image Outstanding Award.”
The Golden Image Award is an annual national award event in Liberia that recognizes outstanding individuals. The initiative was conceived 12 years ago by the Liberia Crusaders for Peace. Its purpose is to honor and celebrate the contributions of unsung heroes who have made significant impacts on society in various areas such as peace, development, investment, health, education, leadership, democracy, justice, human rights, arts, culture, and other human development initiatives, both nationally and internationally, often going unnoticed.
Recipients of the Golden Image Awards are selected from Asia, the Middle East, North and South Americas, Europe, and Africa.
Furthermore, in a recent event held in London, United Kingdom, the African Leadership Magazine (ALM) named Deputy Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa as the African Outstanding Lawmaker of the Year. He was presented with a glass plaque in recognition of his excellence.
The ALM also unveiled its 2023 Magazine, featuring Liberia’s Deputy Speaker on the cover, with a bold inscription highlighting his legislative excellence.
“The distinguished lawmaker has become a beacon of hope for the seemingly voiceless sections of the Liberian people since he began challenging old-age norms and traditions that are injurious to the populace. Among several other milestone achievements, he is known for spearheading the increase of women’s representation in Liberia,” the ALM wrote on the cover.
