MONROVIA – Solid Rock International Ministries, a predominant Liberian Church based in Canada, for the last few weeks has been touring various communities in and around Monrovia identifying with Liberians as they observed Government’s stay home order as part of efforts to fight Coronavirus. The Church, through its spiritual head, Rev. Augustine Glory Blamo, who is in Liberia as part of his annual vacation saw the need to identify with less fortunate Liberians in the wake of the outbreak that has affected every social fabric of the nation.
According to Rev. Augustine Glory Blamo, he sought the intervention of his church to enforce what he has already initiated while on his outreach visit to Liberia. He commended the Church membership for swiftly responding to his call; something he said represents a strong pillar of the church’s mission and vision that focuses on serving humanity.
Rev. Blamo who couldn’t return to Canada as a result of the pandemic, told FPA that he is using his stay in Liberia to put smile on the faces of Liberians who cannot provide for themselves during these difficult periods. “There are people who cannot afford and also remember that most people who are working are now sitting home so we decided to demonstrate what we believe in as a church in reaching out to the needy, most especially the older community”, Rev. Blamo asserted.
Rev. Blamo told FrontPage Africa that he and his church have distributed several food kinds to more than 10 communities in Monrovia and its suburbs. He name some of the beneficial communities as Vamoma, Caldwell, Iron Gate Community in Brewerville, Duport Road and the Rehab Community in Jacob Town. Other communities include Chocolate City, Congo Town and Barnersville.
“My brother, all through my life, I have grown up to sharing with the poor and as a servant of Jesus Christ, we should always be in the position to elevate the living standards of our people and pray that God will continue to use us to provide for the needy because it the reason for which his Ministry remains supreme,” he asserted.
Speaking at these distribution sites, Rev. Blamo and team of Ministers informed the beneficiaries that the donation was his church own way of supplementing national government efforts to meet the needs of the most vulnerable in the society during the pandemic. Prior to the distribution, series of brief worship services were conducted inspiring the beneficiaries and reminding them about the urgent need to focus on God during these difficult times in their lives. Delivering a brief message at one of the sites, Rev. Blamo reminded Liberians that with government intervention in fighting Covid-19, it was also important for Liberians themselves to make use of all preventive measures as a means of keeping safe.
Beneficiaries, in separate remarks, lauded the solid Rock family for the donation and expressed joy that the gesture came at the time when they were in dire need of assistance in the wake of the lockdown. They described the intervention as a resounding victory to their wellbeing in times like these. They extended thanks to the Solid Rock Ministries for winning souls for Christ through the provision of food and non- food items.
Speaking further, he asserted that the Ministry of Jesus Christ is meant to meet the physical and spiritual needs of God’s people especially the weak and encourage members of the Religious community in Liberia to transcend from a pulpit message to a more impact-driven message.
He said ‘Practical’ Gospel is the surest way to meeting the needs of society and called on members of the religious community in Liberia to work together in addressing the needs of their membership and not just preaching the gospel from a pulpit standpoint. According to him, the Ministry of Jesus Christ is to reach out to the poor and encourage them that He, Jesus Christ is the refuge and strength of their lives.
The Solid Rock Church has an historic record in Liberia when it comes to making the gospel of Jesus Christ practically driven. It can be recalled, in 2018, Pastor Blamo led a high power Church delegation to Liberia to preach the gospel of Christ in a more practical approach which include both spiritual and physical food. Records from the number of assistance carry out by Solid Rock shows that it had distributed more than half a million dollars’ worth of materials to include food, clothing and other essential medical equipment. The Church, not being focus on the physical food also held series of crusades across Liberia meeting the spiritual needs of the people.
