The African Achievers Awards is an annual ceremony that celebrates African excellence by acknowledging and honoring exceptional individuals and organizations across various industries in Africa. These individuals and organizations have made immense contributions to the growth and development of the African continent.
The event, held on July 14, took place at the House of Lords Banquet Hall at the Palace of Westminster, UK Parliament.
Upon receiving the African Achievers Award, Rogers promised to use the platform to promote peace and tranquility among Liberians as the country gears up for the October 10, 2023, General and Presidential election.
“Receiving this award at such a crucial time in Liberia’s history is significant. As we gear up for elections, I recognize the importance of leading the message of peace and non-violence in our country,” Rogers said.
He added, “I pledge to utilize this platform and my influence to promote unity, reconciliation, and forgiveness. Together, we can build a nation where dialogue and understanding prevail over division and conflict.”
Rogers, however, expressed his deepest gratitude to the African International Achievers Committee for recognizing his potential and the impact he has made within his community.
“I am privileged to stand among world leaders and trailblazers who have shaped our continent. Let us remember that our achievements are not solely for personal glory but for the upliftment of Africa and its people,” he stated.
Rogers further emphasizes that the award is going to serve as a mandate for him to make an even greater impact as an individual.
“It is a reminder that I have a responsibility to use my experiences and talents to bring about positive change,” Rogers said.
He added, “My story is one of both grief and triumph. When life presented me with lemons, I made lemonade. The obstacles I have faced, such as the loss of my brother due to the lack of safe drinking water and the trauma of being kidnapped as a child, have shaped my path and propelled me forward.”
By empowering and inspiring young people, especially the vulnerable group, Rogers promised to work with the young people of Liberia to eradicate crime and drugs in Liberian society.
“It is my firm belief that by empowering and inspiring the younger generation, we can change the narrative that Liberian youth are violent, unengaged, and uneducated,” he added.
Rogers continues, “Through my work and advocacy, I aim to show them that they have the power to dream big, overcome obstacles, and achieve greatness. I hope that my journey will serve as a beacon of hope and inspire other young Liberians to reach for the stars.”
“I call upon everyone gathered here to join me in supporting youth development initiatives. Let us invest in the future of Africa by providing educational opportunities, mentorship, and resources to our young people. By doing so, we can create a society that thrives on innovation, compassion, and equality,” Rogers added.
