Monrovia – In continuation of its social responsibility in the country, LoneStarCell/MTN through its Mobile Money Department at the weekend identified with two needy groups in the country.
The two needy groups that benefited from the company’s donation were the Antoinette Tubman Cheshire Home in Monrovia and the Rafiki Children Village in Margibi County.
At the Antoinette Tubman Cheshire Home, the company donated some assorted food items, sanitary pads, a generator and a set of television.
The company also donated some educational materials, play toys, assorted food items and sports materials such as footballs and jerseys to the children.
In additional to the donation at Rafiki Village, the GSM group also held a children party for kids at the Christian-based orphanage home.
Speaking at ceremonies marking the donations at both homes, the head of LoneStar Cell MTN Mobile Money, Madam Massa Dennis, said the initiative was the company’s own way of giving back to society, especially the underprivileged during this festive season.
According to her, the donation has been an ongoing initiative by the Mobile Money Division of LoneStar Cell MTN.
“We stand with you and so we are here to celebrate with you ahead of this festive season.
Thanks ever so much for taking care of people with special needs in our country,” said Madam Dennis at the Antoinette Cheshire Home.
Receiving the donated items on behalf of the disabled group, the Home Supervisor of the Antoinette Tubman Cheshire Home, Mr. Jonah Y. Dolakeh, thanked the company for the kind gesture.
He called on the Government of Liberia (GoL), other companies operating within the borders of the country, as well as philanthropic individuals and groupings to follow suit the good examples of LoneStarCell/MTN to reach out to them.
“On behalf of the board of this center, we want to thank LoneStarCell/MTN for reaching out to us to give us some Christmas gifts.
This is not the company’s first time doing this for us; similar donations have been done here on three different occasions,” Mr. Dolakeh recalled.
Also at the Rafiki Village, the LoneStar Cell MTN Mobile Money boss said the company’s visit at the mission was to appreciate and add further boost to the missionaries’ work they have been doing for the Liberian kids.
She said being a responsible company, LoneStarCell/MTN endeavors to always live up to its corporate social responsibility as long as it continues to operate within the borders of Liberia.
“We are here today to spend the Christmas with our children, who are the future of this great nation.
Our aim is to show you how we, as a company, care for everyone. Our operations cut across every all limits,” Massa added.
In addition to the donation, the company also opened mobile money accounts for both homes where people of goodwill will contribute.
