Monrovia – The Press Bureau of the House of Representatives says its attention has been drawn to an alleged syndicate or consortium of blackmail against a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Prince Moye, through media reports.
Report by Henry Karmo – [email protected]
A month ago, it was reported that Representative Moye allegedly raped the teenager in the Rock Hill Community on the Roberts Field Highway.
The House Press Director Mr. Isaac Redd said even though Representative Moye advanced a lawsuit against a number of persons who he claimed planned and executed what he described as a “step-up”.
Redd said while speaking on the matter, a local radio talk show host labeled the entire leadership of the Legislature as a group of lawmakers who were protecting the alleged act of rape against 13-year-old Ma Mary (not real name).
“The purported named Ma Mary is the niece of one Ambassador Wydell McIntosh’s wife. The allegation coming from Mr. McIntosh suggests that this act was committed in 2014.
“Ambassador McIntosh has gone to the Police Station in Margibi County with a Ma Mary to report Hon. Moye. “
“He went to the Police a couple of days after a lawsuit was filed against him and the management of the Hot Pepper newspaper at the Civil Law Court on October 4.
“The first hearing was scheduled for October 14.”
“Another of this damage charge hearing is November 14 Philipbert Browne took this report bearing two dates October 6 and 10 and published it on November 7 with pictures he took and purported those as the bedroom and hotel where the act occurred,” Redd said.
According to Redd, Ma Mary was actively engaged in sexual activities, claiming to have had an analysis of medical report that he promised share with the media at a later date.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this potential hazard and media madness that is now extending to the Legislature must be exposed and halted.
“When the media is being used, we must collectively joined ranks to nip it in the bud.”
“The members of the House of Representatives are aware that there will be setups and mind games to extort money during these coming elections days. “
“Some will do it for political reasons. “
“We want to appeal to the media to balance your stories as you get anonymous calls and tip off on Members of the Legislature,” Redd continued.
An SMS believed to be sent by the Publisher of Hot Pepper Newspaper to Representative Moye was forwarded to FrontPage Africa by Director Redd.
It reads:
“Good morning Rep. Moye, you are a young man that I have developed a soft spot for and I have absolutely no intention to go after you. People make mistakes in life and I am no exception so I am not going to give your political opponents the glorification of seeing you flat on your face.
“As of today’s date, I have absolutely no interest in the rape case owing to the respect I have for the Vice President whom I have grown to admire and love. As a means of a hand of brotherhood and friendship, I extend to you the Olympic truce through a lunch at the Cape Hotel, Sunday at midday.
“Those who will stand as my witnesses and are invited to join us for lunch are Rep. Fahnbulleh, Journalist Fish, Journalist Williams and your special assistant. I am paying for the lunch.
The Vice President will serve as the United Nations to keep the truce.
Again let me make it clear that find a way to reach out to the little girl and her family. If I can be of any help in that endeavour I would be more than willing to assist. Kindest regards.
Mr. Philipbert Browne”
When contacted Mr. Philipbert Browne confirmed sending the text message but said it was in good faith.
“Yes I sent the text message and if you read the text message it said, because of respect for the Vice President who has been pleading for him I would like to have a lunch meeting with him.”
