Liberia: Shamel’s Place Completes Distribution of Food items At Orphanages across Margibi, Montserrado Counties
Monrovia – A leading charity institution, Shamel’s Place Inc.-based in both the United states and Liberia, has ended its distribution of assorted food items including rice, oil and cooking cubes to several orphanages across Monrovia and its environs.
The orphanages include the Children Rescue Center in Mount Barclay, Gateway to Life, Omega Community, Hope In Christ of Careysburg, Love A Child Orphanage and Phebe Gray Orphanage in Margibi County.
The organization made the donation through its Liberia’s Team Leader, Abdullah Keita during the festive season on behalf the organization’s executives based in the United States of America.
Mr. Keita said the gesture was part of the continued support Shamel’s Place has been rendering to the underprivileged children since its formation in 2019.
He said despite numerous challenges the group’s executives are encountering in America as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, they decided to share the little they have with the children back home in Liberia as a way of putting smile on their faces during the festive season.
“Shamel’s Place sent me to share with you these little token as a way of showing their love for you and to tell you that in the midst of these challenges, they are still thinking about you and love you,” Keita said, while presenting several 100kg bags of rice and tins of oil at various orphanages.
Meanwhile, the heads of the orphanages, at their respective institutions, thanked Shamel’s Place for the continued support, and for always remembering their children.
At the first stop, Madam Rose Mayson, Directress of Phebe Gray Orphanage said the food items were timely and will brighten the festive season.
We just want to say thank you for Shamel’s Place for all it continue to do for our children. We are forever grateful and we pray that wherever these gifts come from, may God bless and replenish the givers,” Madam Mayson said.
Shamel’s Place Incorporated was established in 2019 by Astan Eyah Kolleh and her husband in memory their son, little Samuel Shamel Adama Kolleh who died from multiple heart diseases just six weeks after his birth in the United States.
The charity organization has been identifying with several under privileged children in Liberia since its formation.
During the height of COVID-19 in April 2020, Shamel’s Place supplied assorted food items including rice, oil and cooking cube to several orphanages in Margibi and Montserrado Counties as these institutions observed Government’s lockdown order.
Prior to that, the organization, in December 2019, donated hundreds of toys to over 500 children from these same orphanages, and envelopes containing cash to t holders ones.
The Founder and President of Shamel’s Place, Mrs. Astan Eyah Kolleh, who led the delegation from the United States back in 2019, told reporters that the gesture was the foundation’s way of putting smile on the faces of the orphans, “the least advantaged children during the festive season.
