Weala. Margibi County – Salala Rubber Corporation, (SRC) Liberia’s third largest natural rubber producing company located in Gibi District, Upper Margibi County says it will continue to make meaning contributions toward the growth and development of Liberia.
The Liberia News Agency quoting a copy of a press release issued over the week end from the Salala Rubber Corporation, (SRC), General Manager , Mr. Nicolas R. Bergerot said his company has not come only to extract the natural resources of the country, but to also contribute to the developmental needs and wants of residents that are within proximity of its concession areas.
Mr. Bergerot said under his company’s “Corporate – Social Responsibility Programs” will continue to complement government efforts aimed at addressing the developmental needs and aspirations of its citizens.
Mr. Bergerot noted that though the company was facing a serious challenge owing to the low price of natural rubber on the local and international markets, it was still making an impact on the livelihood of the people so as continue to make their lives livable.
He further stated that in the face of the current situation, it has renovated a number of government owned schools in Gibi District located in Baypolu and Gleegba Towns respectively.
The SRC General Manager also stated that undertook several developmental initiatives in various communities within proximity of his company.
He revealed that his company in 2014 started the construction of a six classroom school building for the benefit of the citizens of Kwata but had to halt the work due to some disagreement that ensued between management and citizens of the town.
However said that though construction work on the school building was at a momentary standstill and has not been fully completed, but residents of Kwata have already started using the school building for the education of their children pending the conclusion of talks to have it completed and turned over to them.
In furtherance of its Community Projects under its “Corporate – Social Responsibility Program”, the General Manager of the Salala Rubber Corporation said his company also renovated the Commissioner’s office in Borlorla Township and in Cinta Township; it constructed the Commissioner’s office in Weala, 2012 and has renovated it since after its construction some four years ago.
“Additionally, Salala Rubber Corporation also renovated and furnished the Massaquoi Town and Baypolu Public schools and as well as the Liberia National Police Depot also located in Baypolu Town”, the General Manager averred.
The General Manager of Salala Rubber Corporation has however assured the general public that in spite of the shrinking financial situation it is facing as a result of the sharp decline in the price of natural rubber on both the local and international markets, it will continue to positively engage in its “Community Relations Projects under its Corporate – Social Responsibility Programs”.
