Yekepa, Nimba County – Several affected communities in Arcelormittal Liberia’s operational facilities in Yekepa, Nimba County are benefiting from an ongoing road rehabilitation work, a result of a recent mediation between the company and affected communities.

The work, which started early this week, is expected to extend to several towns and villages around the mining town of Yekapa in districts number two and three respectively before moving to other affected districts.
Residents told reporters that they are happy to see the mining company embark on such projects.They termed the ongoing road rehabilitation a great relief for them, and would ease the burden of bad road they have faced.
Residents of Yarmie, electoral district Three, told reporters such work would help enhance a better relationship between the company and the affected communities.
Yei Suah and Ericson Yini, two leaders of the town, expressed happiness to see the company being involved into such activities.
“We are happy, this will help reduce our suffering when it comes to road connectivity in our town,” Suah said.
Addressing a group of locals, Arcelormittal-Liberia’s operational manager, Andrew Taylor, pledged the company’s commitment to working with the affected communities and Liberians in helping to lift their lives and maintain peaceful communities.
