MONROVIA – The Liberian Senate says it is drenched in sorrow over the sudden transition into eternal life of Representative Adolph Akwe Lawrence, Representative of District #15, Montserrado County. The Senate said in a tribute that it stands with his widow, Nyounblee Karngar-Lawrence, who is a member of the Senate.
In the Senate’s tribute, the late Representative Lawrence was a friend of the Liberian Senate, who visited the Senate chambers and interacted with Senators more than any Representative during his political life in the House of Representatives.
The late Representative Lawrence is said to have contributed to the enhancement of democracy, community development, social cohesion, religious tolerance and the strengthening of institutions in Liberia.
A veteran petroleum professional, Lawrence contributed immensely to the enactment by the Legislation for the proper structuring of the petroleum sector so that policy making functions, regulatory oversight and operations are housed in distinct institutions, in accordance with international best practices.
A veteran geologist, honorable Lawrence also contributed immensely to the enactment by the growth of the solid mineral sector, including the enactment of laws and oversight of the sector to ensure compliance by operators.
The late Lawrence was one of the architects of Liberia’s energy policy and that of the new electricity law intended to improve the sector by introducing reforms which would attract private sector investment.
