MARGIBI COUNTY – Citizens of Margibi County have expressed satisfaction over the ongoing construction of 8.7 kilometer road project in the county.
A cross-section of Margibians said the ongoing pavement of roads connecting the Madigo Quarter to Vai Town Gulf, Old 14 Road along the CH Rennie Hospital, in Kakata city is a testimonial to President George Weah’s commitment to ensuring roads connectivity across Liberia, in line with the ‘Pro Poor Agenda’ for Development and Prosperity.
The 8.7 kilometer road also covers the Lango Town to Bong Mines Road, including the main road leading to the administrative building connecting Borlola.
The Margibi residents expressed gratitude that the project would jump-start economic growth in the county and other surroundings when completed.
“We are very happy about this. This is the first time to see and experience such development.” Madea Smith, a resident of Kakata City said.
Another resident, Ma Watta Corneh, expressed great admiration at the construction company P.G.L. for the speedy and professional manner it was carrying out the road construction.
“My son, I don’t know what to say. We are so happy to see the construction of new roads in our city.”
“We are happy because during the rainy season, there is no way for our children to get to school or even for us to go to the market.
“Right now, we are praying that the company and our government hurry up and complete the roads before the rainy season.” Jefferson Togba, youth leader said.
For his part, Rev Matthew Kieh, Head of the Mount Olivet Bible Church and Vice President, Union of Grassroots Churches of Liberia, called on Finance and development planning Minister Samuel Tweah, to ensure all payments are made to the construction company to timely complete the ongoing road projects.
“We laud the effort by this government under the distinguished leadership of our beloved President George Manneh Weah, to ensure all parts of Liberia is connected by road”
“Importantly, we like to call on Finance and development Minister Tweah, to please ensure this company is paid on time. Because if this company does not complete this project before the rainy season, I tell you, all efforts by this government will go down being wasted.
“Sothan, I call on our president, through the office of the Finance Minister to please do all it takes to have this road completed before the rainy season,” Rev. Kieh said.
For his part, Margibi county Superintendent, Jerry Varney further described the construction of the 8.7 kilometer paved road as a ‘total blessing for citizens of the county’.
Superintendent Varney stated that the construction of the road is the first of its kind in the county’s history, noting that residents are now breathing air of relief.
“I told my citizen that the President George M. Weah, will not rest until all the promises of the Coalition for Democratic Change administration made under the ‘Pro Poor Agenda’ is achieved.
“Some of you doubted but now you see and it is real. President Weah will do all he has promised and let the opposition wait and stop empty talk. Sup. Varney stated.
Speaking furthermore, Superintendent Varney said that Margibi County economy is at the verge of a total jump-start due the ongoing works to pave principle streets in the central commercial city of Kakata.
