The US-based non-for-profit humanitarian organization group is made of 32 potential women, who are aimed at providing human and material assistance to less fortunate people, mainly children in Liberia.
Madam Musunamah Massaquoi Saye, outgoing president, said the organization at first was initially a social club in 2005 but later expanded to a humanitarian organization in 2015.
According to her, the self-supported organization in 2017 began its first charity initiative by sending two Liberian children to the Bible Mission School, before embarking on its second project.
The BSI outgoing head pointed out that children deserve to live a better life regardless of their conditions. According to her, it is incumbent upon every Liberian especially those in the diaspora to extend their helping hands around them in order to make these less fortunate kids happy.
She noted that with those items, she believes that the children will have a joyous Christmas celebration.
The dedication was also done in honor of Murlyn Youboty, their president-elect.
According to her, before the donation, they had done an assessment and the orphanage proprietress, Ma Lawoe Beer, requested food, clothing and other assorted items.
BSI Liberia Coordinator Jacqueline M. Capehart named two bags of 25kg rice, two bails of mixed used clothes for one day to 15 years old, two cartoons of soft drink (soda), two packs of juices, two gallons of red oil and a gallon of argo oil.
Also, a cartoon of salt, a cartoon of mosquito cord, two cartoons of washing soap, a bucket of butter and a cartoon of vita for cooking.
She pointed out that the group intends to go beyond just providing food and clothing for those children.
The BSI Liberia Coordinator said US$2,000 was spent on the items.
Meanwhile, Madam Beer commended the group for identifying with the children during this festive season.
“I’m very happy to see you all here with all these things for my children. I was even thinking about how these children were going to wear new clothes and eat sufficient food not knowing that God was sending BSI to put a smile on our children’s faces.
“I say thank you very much for coming to our aid. I’m too happy and I am asking for more support.”
According to her, since 2009 the government stopped subsidizing the home. She stated that the children are sleeping in the worse condition.
According to her, the school is also in poor condition.
Siannas Giessen, speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, extended thanks and appreciation to the group for extending hands.
