Liberia: Kojo Names Lone Star Squad for Crucial October World Cup Qualifiers

Monrovia – Stand-in  Liberia head coach Thomas Kojo has announced his 25-man Lone Star squad ahead of Liberia’s pivotal 2026 FIFA World Cup African Qualifiers doubleheader against Namibia and Equatorial Guinea.

The team will host Namibia on October 9 at the Samuel K Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, before traveling to Malabo to face Equatorial Guinea on October 13.

The upcoming fixtures are critical for Liberia, who have struggled to convert home advantage into victories, recording just two wins in recent competitive matches against Togo and São Tomé and Príncipe.

With Group H also featuring Tunisia, Malawi, Namibia, and Equatorial Guinea, the Lone Star must secure positive results to remain in contention for a historic 2026 World Cup qualification.

Kojo’s squad blends local talent with international experience. Eleven players currently play in European and African leagues, including Murphy Dorley, Divine Teah, Mohamed Sangare, Ayouba Kosiah, and Prince Blade, Sulahmana Bah, Edward Ledlum, Nicholas Andrew, Solomon Tweh, Emmanuel Fully and Sampson Dweh while the remainder are top performers from Liberia’s domestic competitions.

With home advantage against Namibia presenting a must-win opportunity and a challenging away trip to Equatorial Guinea to follow, Kojo faces an urgent task to galvanize the team. These two fixtures could define Liberia’s position in Group H and shape the nation’s hopes of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
