The Chinese envoy announced that all the equipment, which belonged to the Chinese Peacekeeper Contingents, will be transferred to Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of National Defense, National Police, Bureau of Immigration, National Fire Service, JFK Hospital, Jackson Fiah Doe Memorial Hospital and other departments and organizations of Liberia.
“Also, the Chinese peacekeeping contingents will donate all their campuses, barracks and the non-military facilities to Liberia. I hope this donation will contribute to capacity building of the said institutions and serve the local people better”, Ambassador Yue said.
Giving an overview of China’s contribution in terms of troops to peace keeping in Liberia, he disclosed that China has sent 18 bathes of peacekeeping contingents to Liberia and the total amount of the Chinese peacekeepers is nearly 10,000.
Besides playing a constructive role in Liberian peacebuilding process, Ambassador Yue noted that Chinese peacekeepers also helped the Liberian people in non-military missions by constructing roads, transporting logistic materials and providing medical services.
Commenting on the deadly Ebola virus that hit the country where the Chinese also made significant contribution with one of the best ETU’s Ambassador Yue said in the past years Liberia has increased the anti-epidemic capacity.
“We are glad to see the Liberian side has increased the anti-epidemic capacity sharply and made great achievements in the battle against Ebola. You have shown your courage and resilience when facing the global public health crisis and made an unprecedented victory.
I firmly believe, with these characters deeply rooting in the nation, Liberia will make another victory in the peace-building and economic recovery process”, the Diplomat said.
