Monrovia – The Secretary-General of the National Movement in Support of Boakai (NAMBO), Robert Monsio Kpadeh, has warned that Liberia risks returning to its ugly past if the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) is elected to state power in October.

The CDC is a conglomerate of the Congress for Democratic Change headed by Senator George Weah, the National Patriotic Party led by Senator Jewel Howard Taylor and the Liberia People Democratic Party (LPDP) of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, J. Alex Tyler.
In what appears to be a doomsday press conference on Thursday, September 21, Kpadeh asserted that the CDC vice standard bearer, Senator Jewel Howard Taylor, promised the people of Nimba County that if elected, the CDC will reintroduce the NPP agenda once adopted during the leadership of former President Charles Ghankay Taylor.
Describing the NPP agenda as devilish, stupid and distasteful, Kpadeh noted that it was appalling and unthinkable for the former first lady of Liberia, now a sitting senator to think about reintroducing an agenda that caused so much destruction to Liberia and the sub-region.
“The NPP Agenda was about repression; it was about looting the state coffers, eliminating opposition leaders and killing innocent people in cold blood; it was about raping young girls and exporting terror to countries in the Mano River Union basin and today the people of Sierra Leone still have fresh on their minds the terror and the tragedy afflicted on them by that NPP Agenda,” he lamented.
“It was never about transparency, accountability and civil liberties; it was about keeping the vault, our treasury in the home of former President Taylor.”
“So if Senator Jewel Howard Taylor is suggesting to us that a CDC regime will return our country to the terror and cannibalism, the theft and the bribes and the witch-hunt, then we must come together to resist this plan by rejecting the CDC ticket because the ticket seeks for you evil,” he vented.
Taking a jibe at the CDC Standard bearer, Senator George Weah, the NAMBO Secretary-General noted that it is sad and appalling that the CDC frontrunner, who should be the real leader of the party will remain tight lip and allow Senator Taylor to dictate the agenda of the party, surmising that Weah would be a de facto leader if Liberia’s largest opposition party ascend to the presidency, while the real leader will be former President Charles Taylor.
He disclosed that his team received information from reliable international sources that former President Taylor is actively in communication with the CDC and dictating the affairs of the party, something he described as dangerous to the country and the sub-region and called on the international community to not sit by and allow such an act.
“So we want to call on our partners, beginning with the Americans, the Europeans, ECOWAS, and the MRU who worked tirelessly to ensure that this devil was removed from our country and made to face justice bracingly committing human atrocities,” he averred.
