MONROVIA – The Liberia Solid Waste Management Association (LISWA) has strongly advocated for the appointment of Liberian entrepreneur and sanitation expert James K. Mulbah as the next Mayor of Monrovia to President-elect Joseph Nyumah Boakai.
In an official statement, LISWA emphasized the crucial need for Amb. Boakai to appoint an adept administrator with substantial experience in Liberia’s waste management sector. This recommendation aligns with the Unity Party’s vision to transform Monrovia and its environs into clean and green spaces starting from 2024 onwards.
During its campaign, the Unity Party identified sanitation as a top priority due to the prevalent filthiness in Monrovia and other major cities like Paynesville. LISWA emphasized that Mulbah’s leadership would be instrumental in spearheading the drive to clean cities and institute effective city ordinances for improved municipal governance.
James Mulbah’s Background
James K. Mulbah, a graduate of the University of Liberia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, holds a postgraduate diploma in Strategic Business Management from the Swedish Institute for Public Administration. Currently pursuing a master’s degree in International Relations at UL, Mulbah’s expertise in solid waste management has earned commendation from LISWA, crucial for sustaining Monrovia’s beautification efforts.
LISWA highlighted Mulbah’s extensive achievements, encompassing a diverse array of certifications and accolades. From advanced certificates in various fields like Peace Building, Financial Management, and Entrepreneurship/Business Management, to specialized training in areas such as Electronic Waste Recycling, Organic Fertilizer Production, and Bio-Digester Toilet Construction, Mulbah’s multifaceted skill set in waste management is considered indispensable.
An accredited environmental evaluator licensed by Liberia’s Environmental Protection Agency, Mulbah’s contributions extend beyond academia. His affiliations with esteemed organizations like the U.S Ambassador to Liberia’s Council of Youth Advisors and service on the Regional Advisory Board of West Africa for the Mandela Washington Fellowship underscore his commitment to societal development.
Acknowledged with numerous awards and recognitions, Mulbah’s initiatives have been lauded regionally and globally. He received awards for innovation and entrepreneurship, securing positions as a Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program Fellow, an Echoing Green Finalist, and a recipient of the U.S-Africa Entrepreneurship Award.
