Wologizi FC secured a 1-0 victory against Black Man Warriors, who were favorites before kickoff. Jeremiah Johnson scored the game’s only goal in the 74th minute with a powerful header from the edge of Black Man Warriors’ 18-yard box.
Black Man Warriors, who had good preparation, dominated the game as their goalkeeper was not tested much until Johnson’s goal. The Warriors could have taken the lead in the early stages of the match and for most of the encounter, but their forwards didn’t capitalize on their opportunities.
Wologizi FC’s head coach, Sekou Sonie, revealed that his side’s 1-0 victory was a result of his team’s intensive training and assured the team’s fans of more victories. Coach Sonie stated, “Our victory against Black Man Warriors was assured due to the new level of training and the level of motivation from our Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Momo T. Cyrus. We knew that we were going to win, which has now become a reality, even though technically, my players missed some accurate passes, and tactically, we lost some unmarked players. I can assure our fans that we are going back to the drawing board to put our house in order for our next game.”
He urged his players to now focus their attention on their training as they continue their preparation for their next game on September 17, 2023, against Sinoe NpA in Greenville City, Sinoe County.
According to Sonie, his side’s win against Black Man Warriors is a clear manifestation of their determination to finish among the top two teams in the league. He stated, “Our victory today sends a clear message that Wologizi FC is not just a participant in the league but a title contender because Black Man Warriors, whom we just defeated, is one of the strongest teams in the league.”
