Monrovia- LISCR FC moved at the top of the Liberia Football Association Orange first division league table with a 3-1 win over Cece United on Sunday at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in central Monrovia.
Goals from Abassa Sesey, Albert Karlon and Sheku Sheriff inflicted United another defeat of the season and a huge dent in their hopes of staying in the top flight at the end of the season.
The defeat extended Cece United recent slump that has seen them lose seven games out of eight games while wining just one game since the start of the season.
The Shipping boys are now in pole position to retain the League title with two points clear at the top of the fourteen teams league table.
Cece United who were hoping to secured a point from the match had no time to settle in the match as LISCR FC put three early goals passed them in the first half ending the half 3-0 to the Shipping boys.
After the break United tried to reduce the score line but LISCR was too good for the young lads who had Roland Karmie to thanked for a last minute consolation goal.
But while United is struggling without some key players they are now facing a battle to regain their form.
LISCR produced a performance of champions while delivering an ominous message to their rivals that they are still the team to beat.
The second half was dominated by LISCR, but they had nothing to show for as they were wasteful in front of goal.
With eight round of matches played so far the title race remains tight and unpredictable with a gap between the top four teams at four points following Mighty Barrolle 1-0 away win at Nimba Kwado FC.
Sunday’s result move LISCR at the top of the table with 19 points from eight games while Barrolle moved second place with 17 points.
Following Cece United defeat their task now is to make sure they stay in the league rather than looking over their shoulder.
United are now second from the bottom of the table with three points from eight games.
In other matches played Freeport FC sealed a crucial win over Global Pharma FC at the Tusa field in Gardnersville.
The pharmacists of Global Pharma who prior to the match with the “Go Green Boys” secured back to back wins, went down in the 27 minutes of the match but bounced back in the second half and equalized but Freeport regain their lead with 10 minute to the end of the game a lead they maintained until the final whistle.
The win push Freeport FC up to seven place with 11 points while Global Pharma drop from 8th to 9th place.
Heaven Eleven FC thrash out NPA Anchors 4-0 on Saturday at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex Practice pitch but their result had little on their standing as they drop from second place to third because of Mighty Barrolle victory.
The messengers now have 16 points one point behind Mighty Barrolle with 17 points.
Ismael Dumbouya scored a brace to give Bea Mountain a 2-1 over LPRC Oiler at the Tusa Field and move his club 6th place with 14 points while Oilers is at 8th place with 10 points.
FC Kallon –Liberia suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of former league champions Watanga FC on Sunday.
Watanga remain at 5th place with 14 points while FC Kallon-Liberia sits at 11th place with 7 points.
Invincible Eleven poor form of the season continued with a 3-0 defeat to Paynesville FC who are determined to fight for ever title this season.
Paynesville FC who had a slow start to the season now move up the table to 4th with 15 points while IE is in the relegation zone with six points.
Theo Williams Powers Gardnersville FC to 4-1 win over Junior Pro
Unstoppable Theo Williams scored all four goals as Gardnersville FC stunned Junior Pro 4-1 in Sunday’s Orange Second Division League Fixture at the Tusa Sports Pitch.
Williams is in top form and continues to make head wave in the league with his brilliant goal-scoring record.
The youngster has 11 goals to his credit from 5 league games and sits atop the league scoring chart.
Theo who scored 23 goals last season for Gardnerville becomes the club’s first player to score four goals in a single game in the 2023/24 Orange Second Division League.
With the result, Gardnersville FC now has 17 points and currently sits in second position on the log.
