Prince Martor’s 45th-minute goal, followed by James Richardson and Amadiah Kawah’s 82nd and 90th-minute goals, were enough to seal maximum points for the Pharmacists boys’ promotion to the top flight. Global Pharma has automatically gained promotion to the first division after accumulating a total of 55 points from 24 matches, a point none of the teams below the top three can reach at the end of the league.
The Pharmacists, who were relegated to the second division at the end of the 2021/2022 season, fought hard to make a comeback and return to the first division. Global Pharma qualified for the LFA first division with four games remaining in the second division league. The Pharmacists boys sealed their qualification after they defeated youthful Nimba FC 3-0 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
The weekend’s result means Global Pharma has mathematically booked their place in the top league for the 2023/2024 season after they got relegated from the first division as Monrovia Club Breweries last season from the relegation playoff.
Global Pharma is second on the log with 55 points from 24 games. They are two points behind first place NPA Anchors, who have also qualified. Global Pharma lost three of their 24 games played in the league. They won 17 and drew four of their 24 games, scoring a total of 50 goals and conceding 20.
At the end of the season, the top three teams in the second division league will be promoted to the top flight. After their victory over Nimba FC, Global Pharma Assistant Coach Reo Nyanti posted on his social media page saying, “Congratulations to us. All glory belongs to God almighty for taking us back, and now our mission is the championship. GPFC. The end shall speak the loudest.”
The team captain, Marvin Blapoh, confirmed his team’s qualification. “Mission accomplished, I have never been a failure, and I will never be. Congratulations to us; automatically, we are back in the first league. I’m a born leader sent from God; I do everything with passion, willpower, dedication, and willingness. Now, our attention is to bring home the championship.”
