Prof. Konneh thanked all parents, who are supporting their children’s career path in football.
He was speaking at the start of the LFA Classic under-15 academy league and talent development scheme at the Samuel Kanyon Doe sports complex in Paynesville on 13 January.
“I am grateful to be here and part of history making as we launch this youth league. We have been asked why we didn’t start developing football from grassroots levels.
“My answer is we are starting now. It is our hope that parents will be a support pillar for their children as we start the second edition of the under-15 league preparing young footballers,” said Konneh.
For his part, Deputy Sports Minister Andy Quamie thanked the LFA for its continuous development of grassroots football.
“We are hoping that we will see a Liberian team at the under-17 Africa Cup of Nations or World Cup or a WAFU (West African Football Union) tournament and winning medals and laurels.
“And then we will look back and say this is the fruit of our labor that we started we served the LFA,” said Quamie.
