Liberia, a former football powerhouse in West Africa has in the last few years witnessed a sudden decline in its quality of football, as it can no longer qualify for major CAF football events.
Speaking to journalists Monday in Monrovia, Mr. Glassco said from1990 -to- 2022 Liberia’s football was one of the best in Africa but as it stands due to alleged poor administrative management the good image of Liberian football has dropped to the lowest level.
The Liberian football stakeholder alleged that the poor management of football by Mustapha I. Raji is one of the problems leading to the collapse of football in the country.
“These current football administrators are not managing our football programs well” he said.
He alleged that the current football leaders or administrators are now managing the country football in their own interest and they are not thinking of how the various leagues will progress to the standard level but rather thinking of the money they will incur from it.
“To me I might say that, our football leaders in this country are not in the position of improving our football standard but rather business men and women who are managing our football as their own business and interested in sharing profit or dividends at the end of the football season in the country” he continues.
The tough talking football stakeholder also believes that low patronage is one of the many problems that is decreasing the image of football in Liberia.
The Senior Female professionals president also disclosed that due to the poor management of the league many clubs going into the CAF competitions performance poorly.
” The poor performance of our champion clubs in major CAF competitions now also plays a role in the falling standard of our soccer” he concluded.
