Four Liberian martial arts coaches, with support from Go Team Liberia and the World Taekwondo Education Department, have completed a “Level-2” Kyorugi online coaching training.
The training qualifies them to coach both the Junior and Senior National Teams at international competitions.
The training is meant for Liberian taekwondo coaches to be knowledgeable about the modern techniques of the sport.
The training follows Liberia’s poor performance at the 2024 All African Games in Ghana.
The Liberian coaches were not knowledgeable about modern techniques something that may have been responsible for the country’s poor performance at the All African Games.
The Level-1 training started in April of 2024 and all the coaches passed the Level-1, test which resulted to a one month of special study of rules before They took the Level-2 training course and test.
Coaches who passed the level-2 training course are: Senior National Team Head Coach Master Thomas Wleh, Senior National Team Deputy Coach Master A. Cephas Weeks, Junior National Team Head Coach Master J. Henry Dee, and Junior National Team Deputy Coach Paul Dennis.
The President of the Liberia Taekwondo Federation Master Junior Pewee Russian was also part of the training and received Level-2 certification.
