MONROVIA – For many years, Liberia’s development challenges have been attributed to corruption and ineffective leadership. However, the political leader of the Movement for Progressive Change (MPC), Mr. Simeon Freeman, has a different perspective on the matter.

In a recent intellectual forum held in Brewerville, outside Monrovia, on July 18, 2023, Mr. Freeman emphasized that Liberia’s backwardness should be seen as an “approach problem” rather than solely a result of corrupt individuals. He expressed his belief that continuing to use the same development strategies will only yield the same unsatisfactory outcomes.
Promising to bring a fresh approach to governance, Mr. Freeman advocated for a smaller government and a new development agenda focusing on agricultural revitalization. He highlighted the need for a change in the country’s voting methodology, urging citizens to vote for technocrats who can bring innovative ideas and solutions to the nation’s challenges, rather than being swayed by short-term incentives like T-shirts or bags of rice.
Regarding his vision for a better Liberia, Mr. Freeman outlined plans for fixing infrastructure, promoting agricultural investments, creating jobs, and empowering the people. He emphasized the country’s potential in agriculture, given its fertile soil and favorable climate, and proposed investing in various agricultural products such as sugarcane, cassava, rice, and vegetables. This, he believes, will contribute significantly to the country’s overall development.
In addressing the drug issue, particularly the presence of “zogos” (street youths) in Liberian communities, Mr. Freeman stressed the importance of transformative programs and health initiatives for these vulnerable individuals. He suggested that providing meaningful employment opportunities could significantly reduce drug-related problems and transform lives positively.
Mr. Freeman’s approach to governance aims to foster prosperity in both the government and the lives of the Liberian people. He assured citizens that, if elected as President, his administration would work diligently to implement these transformative policies and promote sustainable development for the nation.
As the CEO of DStv Liberia and a political leader, Simeon Freeman envisions a Liberia where new ideas and a fresh approach to governance will pave the way for a brighter future. He called on citizens to embrace change and focus on long-term solutions to propel the country towards prosperity.
