Monrovia – Many Liberians in ordinary discussions have chosen Senator Jewel Howard Taylor as the favorite for the position of a running mate to the standard bearer of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

Many believe her level of experience in public service and her gender, the coalition has many good things to gain if she is the running mate.
Jewel comes to the Coalition as the standard bearer of the opposition National patriotic Party (NPP) and Senator of Bong County serving her second term. Senator Taylor in a FrontPageAfrica interview acknowledged that she, too, was aware of such suggestion in quarters of the country as Liberia prepares for political activities.
“The possibilities of me being a vice standard bearer on the coalition is something people are thinking of but I want it to remain a choice of the parties because once CDC comes out with who they want to be the standard bearer than they look at both people and see who they want to choose and they can choose some in either of the two parties.
“Am I a forerunner? I believe I am. Am I someone who can be a very good running mate to whosoever the coalition chooses. I am a woman candidate and the women have said, they will support anyone who comes out with a woman as a vice running mate.
“The women want their office. They want somewhere they can go and have their issues resolved. I have work with them for many years and they know they can trust me that if I pick up their issues I can stick with it until we get it pass,” she said.
Jewel believes she possesses all qualities to be a good running mate to the coalition’s standard bearer, evidenced by her working experiences and education.
“I have worked for many years, I am trained, educated and experienced and I think I bring many positive things to the coalition. If I am chosen, I will be privileged to serve; if I am not I will still work for the coalition because I believe that we are trying to fulfill the wishes and aspiration of our people. It is not about one candidate but a team that can work for the betterment of our country,” she asserted.
Rainbow tour
During weekend, leaders of Liberia’s tripartite political infrastructure, The Movement Coalition for Democratic Change assembled and paraded three districts in Montserrado County.
According to Senator Taylor, the tour was a result of a meeting held by the party which generated momentous participatory spirit for the launch of the Coalition’s Redemption Tour.
“While interacting on foot, the teams look forward to gaining additional understanding of the people’s needs, their pains and struggles as the CDC anticipates a popular mandate to form a Coalition Government that finds solution to the abyss of economic inequalities affecting ordinary citizens.
