Fendell, Mountserrado County – The daughter of the standard bearer of the opposition Liberty Party (LP) Charlyne Brumskine has admonished students of the University of Liberia to vote for the LP in the ensuing Presidential election for increment in the country’s education budget.

“We know the young people, we know the students will be the deciding factors, the majority voters on Tuesday, and that is why I made it my business to come and speak to you. You are what we call the change agents, because you and I together will decide which way our country will move,” Charlyne said.
She made the statement on Friday October 6, 2017 during an interactive forum with the students of the University of Liberia, Fendell Campus.
Charlyne said Liberia can only move forward if the illiteracy rate in the country is reduced to the minimum level by providing quality education, saying that the education of young people for a brighter Liberia is the paramount concern of Liberty Party.
“Under Brumskine administration, we will double our education budget, because the education of other people is the paramount concern of Brumskine, because he knows he could not have been there if it could not have been the help of others,” Charlyne asserted.
She averred that the LP, under the leadership of Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine truly believes in the upliftment of the Liberian people to eradicate and eliminate poverty and corruption.
“I am a Liberian woman, I am a mother of two children, and I am an Attorney at law. I am passionate; I am desperate to make sure our country moves in the right direction. We at the Liberty Party truly believe that we must give power to the people,” she noted.
Brumskine’s daughter said the Presidential election of Tuesday October 10, 2017 is crucial and important to the maintenance of peace in the country, as Liberians will experience the smooth transfer of democratic power from one government to another, something that she has not been practice over decades.
“We are going to national elections on Tuesday and what will happen on Tuesday I believe will be the most critical election. All eyes are on Liberia, the international press this time around I believe even more so than in 2005 has been present.
They want to know what this nation will do. The nation which elected the first female President of Africa, where will they go next, who will they bring to lead the country?” Brumskine daughter said.
Charlyne said the decision of Liberians on Tuesday October 10 will bring forth one of the three results in the upcoming elections; either Liberians will remain where they are, or Liberians will hold onto continuity or Liberians will regret their decision by going backward, acknowledging to the students body that the situations in Liberia can get worse if Liberians do not vote for the right leader.
“On Tuesday there will be one of three things that will happen in our nation base on this election. We will remain as we are, we will stay right where we are today. We will hold on to continuity, we will hold on to status core, we will hold onto the so called devil we know than the angel we have not seen or we will regret, we will go backward.
And I say to you that we must not think for one minute that Liberia cannot go backward, we must not think for one minute that it can’t get worse, it can get worse,” she said.
She further added that if Liberians elect a leader who does not have the ability to resist the western world from exploiting the country through trade negotiation that will affect the majority of the population, Liberia will take a downward trend.
“If we elect a leader who does not have the ability to stand in front of Donald Trump and say I will not allow you to negotiate this trade with my country because it will affect my citizens, we will go back.
If our people who we have representing us at the WHO do not have the resources to be able to negotiate for us, we will go backward. If we elect a leader who does not prioritize education, we will regret,” Charlyne noted.
