His comments comes in reaction to public concerns that Cummings is not popular with his people due to his job outside Liberia, which might create difficulties in winning the minds of Liberians during the 2017 campaign period as a result of limited time left.
But the ANC Political Leader has condemned his unpopularity assertions, noting that he has a longstanding experience with the struggle Liberia is faced with since he, (Cummings) has also experienced same.
“I guess, I disagree with the premise that I don’t understand Liberian politics and problem, I know the challenges Liberians are faced with, the proposal we are demonstrates indicates that we the challenges of our people and most of them are centered around young people, this is why we are taking the issues of young people serious”, said Mr. Cummings.
He told a FrontPageAfrica interview Tuesday during an acquaintance with students at the Blue Crest University in Sinkor, his working experience in Liberia and his quest to provide quality skills for Liberian youth clearly demonstrates his popularity with the people.
Cummings expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of basic skills for many Liberian youth who believed they have, especially vocational training, something his quest for the Liberian highest office looks forward to keenly address.
According to him, said value can be achieved if the educational circle is tackle, stating that his aegis to the educational needs of young people in Liberia is unceasing, outside politics.
“With those skills, the young people can start their own businesses and so education is the first place to start from and as a country and people we need to accept that reality”, the ANC Political leader stressed.
The Liberian businessman, now politician has in the same vein outlined four thematic areas that Liberia educational system should place emphasis on, naming early child education, vocational, teaching training for young people and teachers’ education among others.
Though he name changing and transforming Liberia as one of his major focus for his Presidential ambition, Cummings however registered that running for the Liberian presidency is not the solution to difficulties Liberia is faced with but commitment and involvement of electorates in selecting the right leader.
Mr. Cummings encouraged politicians to get involved in Liberia’s transformation rather than speaking about it without making the necessary effort, something he said needs the total involvement of all of his competitors.
“We are focus on how do we find the money by doing what needs to be done. One of the ways we can do these things is finding the resources that will exceed the current revenue of our country and taking out waste” Cummings added.
He said, it is insincere Liberia depends on other countries for its stable food (rice), calling for increase in agriculture productivity across the fifteen political subdivisions.
Meanwhile, Mr. Cummings has condemned the current health system of Liberia as well as mocking the infrastructural development as not being up to standard, something he attributed to rampant corruption in the country being facilitated by citizens.
The ANC Political leader wants stakeholders in the country serve as exemplary of transformation for the Liberia’s emerging generation.
