With just three days to Liberia’s much publicized runoff election, incumbent President, Weah Weah, has received yet another huge endorsement that seems almost like winning a lotto.
The President and his ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) were endorsed on Friday in Gbarnga by one of Liberia’s fastest-growing grassroot, youth-based, and political civil rights youth movements, the Unstoppable National Congress (UNC).
Addressing a news conference in Gbarnga, the National Chairman of the group, Morris Wrepu, justified that the decision of his Movement was engineered by the number of developments the Nation has experienced over the last five years under President Weah.
Wrepu noted that in just five years, Liberians have seen the rehabilitation and construction of roads, stable electricity, free tuition at public institutions of learning, construction of recreational centers, payment of WASSCE fees and the maintenance of peace and security.
The Unstoppable National Congress Chairman also praised the Liberian leader for upholding free press and freedom of speech, clarifying that there has not been a single political prisoner over the past five years as a result.
Wrepu noted that these developments only indicate that President Weah deserves a second term in order to lure more for the good of the country.
He described President Weah as a responsible and grassroot leader who is very sensitive to the bread and butter issues in the country, stating that the president himself experienced what many impoverished citizens go through on a daily basis while growing up in Gilbrata.
“Fellow Liberians, We are proud to say that in the last five years, we have observed countless meaningful efforts the President and Vice President have taken towards the advancement of our country and its people. They have gone above and beyond to ensure that this government is for the people”, he stated.
“With just five years in leadership, we’ve experienced the impacts and peacefulness of this government and the remarkable contributions President Weah is making in all political sub-divisions across this country. Also, the continual support of our Vice President, Madam Jewel Howard Taylor, to the Presidency, ranging from women’s empowerment in various counties to huge investments in both men and women’s education, cannot go unnoticed,” he added.
“Moving forward, With microscopic political lenses, we have done due diligence in determining who or which political institution is well prepared, able, and has the foresight to deliver the deliverables for the people of Liberia. With these as catalysts for our decision here today, Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, with the trust imposed in me as National Chairman of this movement , I’m exceedingly pleased to declare our support and endorsement of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) for the continuation of the President and Vice President’s good work on behalf of the Unstoppable National Congress, and it is hereby so endorsed on this 10 day of November A.D 2023”, Wrepu declared.
He informed President Weah that his group, before the official endorsement, has had series citizen engagements and that the outcomes of those engagements only point to a huge victory on November 14.
Morris Wrepu noted that the Unstoppable National Congress will remain engaged during and after the runoff in making sure that the President achieves.
In conclusion, Wrepu called on Liberians to do the needful on November 14 by voting for President Weah if they wish to see the country threading on a progressive path.
