The Ministry of Education (MOE) is happy to share an announcement for scholarships from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Transforming the Education System for Teachers and Students in Liberia (TESTS) Activity. TESTS is a groundbreaking initiative supporting the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE) to improve the quality of instruction in early childhood education (ECE) and primary education (PE) in Liberia. TESTS is working to strengthen the capacity of higher education teacher training institutions (HETTIs) and improve the teaching environment. In the upcoming academic year 2023/2024, TESTS is pleased to announce the offering of competitive scholarships to eligible students across eight partner HETTIs in Liberia to pursue Associate and Bachelor of Arts (or BSc) degree programs in ECE and PE.

- Grand Bassa University (GBU), Buchanan, Grand Bassa County
- Lofa County University (LCU), Lofa County
- Adventist University of West Africa (AUWA), Margibi County
- African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU), Montserrado County
- Liberian Cooperative Standard Education School System (LICOSESS) College of Education, Montserrado County
- University of Liberia (UL), Montserrado County
- Nimba University (NU), Nimba County
Scholarship Offer Details:
- Coverage:
- Tuition and mandatory fees for a maximum of 2 years (4 semesters), renewable on a semester basis.
- Maximum 200 USD contribution to graduation fees after successful completion of the degree program in 2 years.
- A minimal allowance is available for qualifying women and persons with disabilities.
- Tuition and mandatory fees for a maximum of 2 years (4 semesters), renewable on a semester basis.
- Eligibility:
- Open to Liberian citizens aged 50 and below.
- Available to study full-time in the associate or bachelor’s degree program in early childhood or primary education.
- Not available to students already benefiting from other sources of support for tuition and fees.
- Responsibilities of Scholarship Recipients:
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Active participation in TESTS-sponsored events and activities.
- Cover all other education-related and living expenses not covered by the TESTS scholarship.
- Maintain good standing at any of the eight partner HETTIs according to institutional policies, student handbook, code of conduct, or similar sources.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Application Requirements:
- Round 1: Documentation
- Application form, passport-sized photos, letter of admission to the HETTI, WAEC/WASSCE results, high school diploma and transcript. Applicants must pass 5 WAEC subjects to be eligible, including maths and English.
- Additional documents for different categories of applicants.
- All applicants must submit a signed consent form which RTI provides.

- The Scholarship Committee will evaluate applications. The Committee is comprised of institution faculty and TESTS representatives.
