Paynesville City- The Women Situation Room (WSR), a peaceful institution committed to ensuring nonviolent elections in Liberia, has congratulated President-elect, Joseph Nyumah Boakai for being victorious in the recently concluded November 14 presidential runoff.

The National Elections Commission (NEC) has announced the final result of the entire electoral process, with Ambassador Boakai receiving 50.64% while President Weah obtained 49.36%.
Before NEC’s final pronouncement, late Friday, President Weah, in his address to the nation conceded to former Vice President Boakai.
In a brief meeting with the former Vice President, the eminent women of the WSR lauded Amb Boakai for sustaining Liberia’s peace during the November 14 polls
The delegate of the eminent women of the WSR was headed by the Establishment Coordinator Angie Brooks International Center for Women’s Empowerment, Cllr. Yvette Chesson-Wureh along with former Chief Justice Cllr. Francis Johnson-Allison, Cuttington University President Dr. Romelle A. Horton, and former Foreign Affairs Minister, Olubanke King Akerele, amongst others.
Addressing the occasion, Cllr. Wureh praised the President-elect for how he conducted himself during the electoral period.
She, however, advised Amb. Boakai prioritize good governance, and peace and primarily focus on reconciliation as the elections have caused division amongst Liberians.
Said Cllr. Wureh, “We have come to congratulate you, for the manner and former in which you conducted the process. Your engagement towards the process was not violent, rather my people let’s vote and vote for the best person”
She emphasized, “And you told them that you were the best. Your campaign was about ideas, instead of violence.
Making a brief remark, Madam Akerele also commended the former Vice President for the courageous protection of Liberia’s fragile peace and security.
She further stated that there is no Republic of UP or CDC but the Republic of Liberia which has prevailed in the electoral process.
Responding, the President-elect Boakai, assured the WSR that the UP would do nothing less but to make Liberia the best in Africa. He emphasized that he is committed to the course.
Said Boakai, “This is the land of Liberty. I want to say, And that what we will do is, to make this country the great country it is meant to be.”
He recognized the significant role that the WSR played in the electoral process. He, however, promised to partner with the institution.
“We have always been proud of the Women’s Situation Room.” Of course, I didn’t expect less because I know you could do it for our country,” he said.
He added, “No one else has to tell me the feeling that you people around the table share for this country and the way you want it to do.”
