Phebe, Bong County —The United Bong County Association in the Americas (UBCAA) has donated several food and medical supplies worth USD$ 8,000 to the Phebe Hospital in Suakoko, Bong County, as an initial emergency relief to the tanker explosion victims.

The United Bong County Association in the Americas, Inc., (UBCAA) is incorporated in the United States of America as a non-profit 501 C (3) tax-exempt organization. The UBCAA serves as an umbrella organization for citizens, residents, former residents, and friends of Bong County, Republic of Liberia, residing in the Americas.
Since its formation, the Organization has responded to several humanitarian needs involving Bong County citizens.
Presenting the materials to the hospital’s administration, UBCAA’s Country Director Nuwoe Kellen, said the gesture was part of the organization’s efforts to speed up the recovery of victims of the fire incident.
Kellen noted that Bong County citizens, friends, partners, and well-wishers of UBCAA residing in the U.S. are seriously concerned about the survival of victims of the incident.
He assured Phebe’s management that the UBCAA would continue to work with the hospital in order to sort out some of the challenges facing the facility.
The UBCAA Country Director, on behalf of the National Executive President, Caimon Joe Gbamokollie, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Natt Dakagboi, Executive Council, members of the Board of Directors, and general membership extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident and prayed for the speedy recovery of those hospitalized.
The hospital management lauded the UBCAA for quickly responding to some of the major needs of the facility in treating patients, and the materials donated are precisely some of the most critical materials to attend this medical emergency.
In a dispatch from the National President of UBCAA, Caimon Joe Gbamokollie expressed condolences to the bereaved families for their irreparable losses and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. He prayed that God would console bereaved families during this period of national grief.
Mr. Gbamokollie extended his thanks and appreciation on the UBCAA’s behalf to the first responders, medical teams from Phebe, the JFK Medical Center, ELWA, other health facilities, and fellow citizens and Organizations for their work to save lives.
The Association thanked citizens, well-meaning Liberians, and the Bong County Legislative Caucus led by Representative Moima Briggs-Mensah, Senator Prince Moye, and Senator-elect Johnny Kpehe for their swift actions in coordinating relief efforts to help the victims of this national disaster.
The UBCAA President, Mr. Gbamokollie, appealed to His Excellency Dr. George Manny Weah, President of the Republic of Liberia, to declare a national disaster or emergency in the wake of this national disaster. Furthermore, Mr. Gbamokollie expressed that in a national disaster of such a magnitude, the government of Liberia needs to declare a national disaster or emergency and direct the appropriate government resources to help address this disaster that has taken the lives of so many of our brothers and sisters.
Receiving the items on behalf of the victims, the Chief Medical Officer of Phebe Hospital, Dr. Minnie Sankawulo Ricks, commended UBCAA for the donation and called on others to emulate the gesture, either in kind or cash to enable the hospital deliver befitting care to the gas explosion victims.
She was particularly grateful for the specific pharmaceuticals and medical supplies donated given that he met the real needs of the fire victims.
She assured the UBCAA that the hospital would use the drugs judiciously to reduce pain and suffering of the fire victims.
“One of the victims died, while over 20 persons were transferred to other hospitals in Monrovia,” She said.
