Monrovia—The Senior Inspector of the Liberia National Police, Unit-109, Victor Gboyah, has again surfaced in the media for unfavorable reasons, after being dragged to the Monrovia City Court on multiple crimes, ranging from Criminal Facilitation, Criminal Mischief, Menacing, and Simple Assault.

The court, based on a complaint filed by complainant Jallah B. Kollie, has communicated to the Liberia National Police to disrobe and forward Senior Inspector Gboyah before its jurisdiction on Wednesday, April 10 at 11:00 AM.
“The complaint is based upon the oath and complaint of the Republic of Liberia, by and through Jallah B. Kollie accordingly, and because of the gravity of the allegation contained in the writ, we would appreciate were you to kindly use your good office to have Officer Victor Gboyah disturbed and forwarded to this Honorable Court on Wednesday, the 10th day of April 2024 at 11: 00 A.M.,” a communication from the court, in the possession of FrontPageAfrica noted.
Inspector Gboyah has been invited by the court to exonerate himself of charges levied against him in keeping with the law of Liberia for allegedly facilitating the escape of another defendant, Alber Yonly, linked to a crime against Defendant Kollie, a Liberian.
Yonly is a young pilot of Liberian descent who made a historic solo flight from North America to Africa in a single-engine plane, lastly to his native Liberia.
According to the complainant, on February 7, Defendant Abner Yonly violently assaulted him at about 4 PM to 5 PM, while driving from Front Street towards Ashmun Street, through the Randall Street side, while on his way home from work.
The complaint noted, that Defendant Yonly was driving a white jeep with license plate #A520415 and came in the opposite direction towards him, while he tried to engage marketers who had congested the road, which made passage of vehicles impossible.
Accordingly, while the defendant continued to engage marketers to leave the road, Defendant Yonly got impatient and decided to use his vehicle to push the complainant’s vehicle from the road, causing damage to both car lights and the front bumper.
Complainant Kollue also accused Defendant Yonly of insulting and assaulting him at the same time, tearing his shirt, damaging his phone, and illegally entering his car while marketers mocked him.
“Amidst all these actions, I did not fight back and I never retaliated on him, because I was neatly dressed up from a day’s work,” Kollie started in the complaint.
He further noted that Defendant Yonly escaped the scene, but was chased after and later arrested at the intersection of Ashmun and Johnson Streets and forwarded to the LNP Central Headquarters in Monrovia.
However, the complaint noted that upon police investigation, Yonly was found liable for criminal mischief, and illegal entry into my car, coupled with other charges, which were read in the presence of his lawyer.
Nevertheless, Kollie said the investigation was not finalized when Inspector Gboyah went to the Accidebt section and Charge of Quarters, instructing that Mr. Yonly be released immediately and his car key be turned over to him as well as instructing him to leave and that another occupant of Yonley car was allowed to sign on his behalf, to return the next day.
He is the same way noted that Defendant Yonly’s release was reportedly a result of a close tie the defendant has with Police Inspector General, Gregory Coleman.
Due to Coleman’s close tie with Defendant Yonly, he since played a cold shoulder on turning him over to the court, until the defendant escaped Liberia.
A communication in the possession of FrontPageAfrica dated March 18, requested Inspector Coleman to use his office to have Inspector Gboyah disrobe and be turned over to the court, along with Defendant Yonly on March 21 at 11:00 A.M. to exonerate themselves from charges levied against them in keeping with the law.
However, FronPageAfrica has gathered that due to Inspector Coleman’s friendship with Defendant Yonly, he has since refused to bring the defendant to justice, until he (Yonly) escaped Liberia.
The court also on March 18, issued a Writ of Arrest for both Defendants Gboyah and Yonley, based on a lawsuit filed by Complainant Jallah B. Kollie, but both are yet to show up.
This episode marks a series of legal taboos involving Inspector Gboyah.
Recently, Gboyah was brought before the Civil Law Court for allegedly extorting US$12,000 (Twelve Thousand USD) from Businessman, Chris Weah, in which Judge Ousman Feika ordered him to pay back said amount seized from Mr. Weah, a petitioner.
The court intervention was prompted by Weah’s petition to recover his money, which he claimed was forcefully taken from him by LNP officers Victor Gboyah and Sam Ballah during an event organized for a police charity on November 5, 2023.
In 2014, Gboyah was suspended by the LNP, along with two senior officers for one month with an appropriate salary deduction for “negligence of duty coupled with abuse of power and authority” allegedly perpetrated against the management of Cheatiou Brothers Incorporated, a Lebanese-run business center on Bushrod Island, Monrovia.
Meanwhile, Gboyah, following an FPA investigation denied being linked to the accusation raised by Complainant Kollie.
Inspector Gboyah said he did not give an instruction to the police authority investigating the matter to release Defendant Yonly, and that it was done through the rightful procedure.
Gboyah further maintained that there are forces within the police that are pressuring Kollie to drag him to the matter due to envy.
Meanwhile, when FPA and Inspector Gboyah, along with Complainant Kollie reached the Monrovia City Court Judge Chamber on Tuesday, April 9, Judge Ben Barco instructed Inspector Gboyah to use his authority to get the individual who signed for Defendant Yonly.
Judge Barco also noted that another summons will be sent for Inspector Coleman in keeping with the law.
