You know how I felt to wake up in the morning after my birthday and two people in the car to Cathedral Church died? Why-we don’t know; if that was a boyfriend or girlfriend issue, that doesn’t allow you to kill somebody because you don’t know where you will end up”.

Monrovia – President George Manneh Weah has expressed disappointment over the high level of “wickedness” and disrespect for elders in Liberia.

Addressing the congregation at his Forky Kloh Jlateh Family Fellowship Inc. Church off the Robertsfield Highway Sunday, the Liberian leader averred that most Liberians committing crimes in the Diaspora and being deported back home, are citizens who took the laws into their own hands during their stay overseas.

‘We Need to Stop’

Making specific reference to the discovery of the lifeless bodies of two employees of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) last Friday, President Weah said: “It is sad to know that our country, a religious country like Liberia you wake up and you see they killed people in car. What is that? We need to stop. No matter what happened, we cannot take a life. The greatest thing is life and the only one who supposed to take that is God. You know how I felt to wake up in the morning after my birthday and two people in the car to Cathedral Church died? Why-we don’t know; if that was a boyfriend or girlfriend issue, that doesn’t allow you to kill somebody because you don’t know where you will end up”.

“This is a beautiful country. In this country; the wickedness and the way we treat elders; we need to stop. You know the reason we need to stop; in life, what you do at home may go abroad. People abroad don’t care; some people can look at police people and slap them; they are deporting them back, because what they were doing in their own country, you carried it to the people country. Instead of looking for work, they are doing lot of scamming”.

Last Friday,  the bodies of both Albert Peters and his workmate, Mrs. Gifty Asmah Lama, were discovered dead in his vehicle on Broad Street near the Sacred Heart Cathedral.  Both deceased were employees of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA). Mr. Peters served as an Internal Auditor while Mrs. Lama was a research analyst.

On Sunday, the President lamented that the wickedness in Liberia is getting out of control.

The President said it is quite sad and unfortunate for citizens who sought greener pastures in other countries across the world to return home as “deportees” instead of visitors. He added that though Liberia remains one of the most beautiful countries on earth, wickedness remains prevalent in the land.

The President said, citizens, especially young people, should avoid disrespecting elders and remain diligent, hardworking and respectful to be successful in the future.

He noted that citizens should prepare themselves to take up leadership roles and desist from envying and creating animosity for one another.

The President noted that despite the barrage of criticisms against him in the past and up to present, he has braved the storm to engage in competitions with his critics to prove them wrong.

He noted that those contemplating on becoming leaders should always treat their present leaders with respect and dignity.

The President indicated that despite the situations, citizens should be joyful with a pure heart for good things to flourish in their lives. “There is nothing greater than peace; there is nothing joyful than peaceful; there is nothing constructive like peace; there is nothing wonderful than peace; there’s nothing precious than peace. Be peaceful”.

President George Manneh Weah has expressed disappointment over the high level of disrespect being shown to the Liberian presidency by some citizens in the country.

According to him, some citizens are in the constant habit of raining insults on him even though they are seeking his assistance.

1000 Texts; 999 Insults

The President declared that despite being President, he will not render any level of help or assistance to people who continuously show him disrespect through text messages.

He pointed out that most often barrage of “disrespectful” text messages are sent by some citizens claiming to be partisans from the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) who put him in power.

Said the President: “1000 persons who text me, 999 are insults. But you expect the President who you can’t talk to good, to reply you and say something to you. This is wrong.  You want something from me, you got to respect me; you got to be diligent. You are arrogant and you asking me for something small, I will not do it. You can’t be asking for help and disrespecting the President”.

“Some of your telling me to pay your rent; you get your ma and pa and you asking me to pay your rent; why you can’t go live with your ma. The money you want to pay your rent; you can use it with your mother to do business. Go take the one room in the place there and lay down inside and do business with the rest to help you and your ma. Why do you want to leave from your ma house when you 19, 20-years old. “You know I was 18 years sleeping on the floor? Why are you rushing life? Anybody you got malice in your heart for me, it will not work”.

President Weah, however, urged Liberians who do not have love for him to forge ahead, but urged them to desist from ruining their own country for the sake of him.
