MONROVIA – As Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai, the standard-bearer of the opposition Unity Party (UP), walks into history as the winner of the just-ended presidential run-off held on November 14, 2023, the largest group of Liberians in the diaspora in the Americas, the Union of Liberian Association in the Americas (ULAA), has congratulated him for his victory. In a press statement issued by the ULAA Chairman and Board of Directors, it said, “The Chairman and members of the National Board of Directors of the Union of Liberian Association in the Americas (ULAA) have expressed words of congratulatory messages to Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai as the President-elect of the just-ended election held on November 14, 2023, in Liberia.”
ULAA also expressed its thanks and appreciation to Liberians at home for displaying true democracy by expressing their will through the ballot box. Equally so, the ULAA Chairman and members of the Board of Directors also commended outgoing President George Weah for his level of maturity in honestly conceding defeat and congratulating his archrival for his victory. The ULAA Chairman and Board of Directors pray for God’s blessings upon Liberians and the incoming leadership of Liberia.
ULAA has a long history of speaking on critical issues back home, especially in the ’70s when it partnered with a number of advocacy groups to fight for popular democracy in Liberia
