Liberia: Retirees to Receive ‘Handshake’ Retirement Packages

Monrovia – The Government of Liberia says, it will shortly commence the payment of benefits to 2,154 retirees from 14 government entities.
According to a release from the Civil Service Agency (CSA), the payment of the retirement package is in observance of section 60 2(d) of the CSA human resource policy manual.
“A meeting in the next two days to work out the modalities for reaching all retirees with their handshake payment will clearly define the framework for reaching out to retirees which we expect to commence on April 25, beginning with Montserrado and Margibi counties.”

In the release, the government has committed to paying the stipulated handshake packages for all retirees in their various categories based on the number of years worked.
The release from the CSA is quoted as saying that individual checks are currently being prepared for the payment to begin through inter-agency committee.
“A meeting in the next two days to work out the modalities for reaching all retirees with their handshake payment will clearly define the framework for reaching out to retirees which we expect to commence on April 25, beginning with Montserrado and Margibi counties,” the release stated.
The CSA release also promised that the payment deal will reach all retirees in persons as payment will be accompanied by the signing of the C1 forms for pension processing with the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP).
The CSA says NASSCORP is currently processing all C1 forms already received and would like to speed up the completion of the enrollment of this batch of retirees as quickly as possible. “We count on the corporation of all involved particularly Human Resource directors of entities from where retirees are drawn.”
The government has meanwhile expressed thanks to all retired employees for the many years of dedicated services to the Government and People and for their many years of services to the country and wish them all the best in their retirement.
Approximately, more than 2,154 employees from 14 entities of the Government were retired after reaching the age of retirement consistent with the new social security law of 2017. A program for honoring the retirees was planned for August but has been canceled due to the prevailing health situation.
